Centennial High School has implemented the Learning Academy model starting in the 2016-2017 school year. It was originally comprised of three learning academies each with a thematic focus to engage students' interest and to personalize students' educational experiences. During the 2017-2018 school year, Centennial decided to move into two learning academies. Centennial's faculty and staff believed that we could better serve students moving into two academies due to student enrollment and student interest.
The two academies are:
- 9th Grade Academy
- Designed to create an appropriately rigorous and supportive environment that allows incoming freshman to become acclimated to high school expectations. The 9th grade academy builds skills for successful academic and personal growth not only within their high school experiences but college and career as well.
- Science Technology Engineering Math & Medical Academy (STEAM)
- A three-year program dedicated to building student apprentices in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Arts, and Medicine pathways. Currently, the program offers learning opportunities in music, performing arts, media communications, and stage production. All courses are A-G aligned, based in common core practices and are focused on preparing students for 21st century college and career expectations.
